Have you ever dreamed of a European-inspired wedding — old stone pathways, romantic gardens, roses in bloom, and that feeling of timeless beauty? What if you didn’t have to travel across the world to find it?
Right here in the Perth Hills, Masonmill Gardens offers that same European charm — close to home.
Roses frame the pathways. Garden trails invite you to walk around. Elegant statues (made even more iconic after a well-known football legend’s wedding) create the perfect portrait backdrop. It’s no wonder every couple I photograph there wants their own moment in that space.

A Venue That Aligns With Fine Art Photography
As a fine art wedding photographer based in Perth — and travelling across Australia for weddings and elopements — I’m always drawn to venues that feel timeless and connected to nature.
Masonmill Garden is exactly that. When I write a blog post, I always ask myself two questions:
- Does it align with my fine art style — natural, light-filled, and intentional?
- Will future couples love an European theme here in Western Australia.
Masonmill Gardens ticks both boxes.

What I Love About Masonmill Gardens
Honestly, when I first walked into Masonmill Gardens, I thought, wow. There are so many beautiful gardens, roses everywhere, and parking is super easy — a small detail, but important for couples and guests!
Walking up the stone path to the private area, I immediately loved the intimacy of the space. This is what drew me in — the combination of European charm with the kind of privacy and natural beauty that makes photos feel effortless and romantic.
Private and Romantic Ceremony Spaces
- Intimate ceremony area with back access — perfect for a surprise entrance.
- White garden pergola covered in a lush vine — already makes the space feel lush and green.
- Blends beautifully into surrounding trees; easy to add extra colour or drapes.
- Bride can walk through the back without the groom seeing her — small touches like this make photos feel natural and emotional.
Canapés and Guest Spaces
- Gardens extend to a slightly elevated area where guests can mingle.
- Guests can enjoy canapés without seeing the reception area until it’s ready.
- Natural flow keeps the day relaxed and effortless.
Reception Areas and Flow
- Stunning reception area with a clean white marquee, chef prep space, and guest toilets.
- Surrounded by pine trees and statues — iconic photo opportunities for every couple.
- Stone path stairs lead straight onto the dance floor — perfect for entrances, twirls, and epic moments.
- Photographers can find creative ways to make each couple’s photos feel unique.
Photo Opportunities Throughout the Grounds
- Multiple private garden areas and wider grounds provide endless photo opportunities.
- Roses, pathways, and native trees — every corner is frame-worthy.
- Light moves beautifully through the trees and across lawns — perfect for candid moments, fine art portraits, and timeless photos in both film and digital.
On-Site Accommodation
- Accommodation on-site or nearby is a huge bonus.
- After dancing and sore feet, guests and family can simply walk to their rooms — no stress, no long drives.
The Café
- Delicious breakfast and excellent coffee.
- Stunning views in both winter (rainy and stormy) and summer.
- Lovely spot to grab a coffee and enjoy the gardens before a wedding or photoshoot.
Mini Golf
- Not wedding-related, but fun!
- Great for guests to enjoy the outdoors or for a casual visit before or after your wedding.
Why Masonmill Gardens Photographs So Beautifully
As a film wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to venues with soft, neutral tones — and Masonmill Gardens has them everywhere. The stone pathways, white marquee, and beautiful greenery create the perfect backdrop that complements any colour palette effortlessly.
The open shaded areas and natural stone surroundings are incredibly flattering for skin tones. When paired with film photography, your skin looks soft, smooth, and beautifully natural — giving your images that timeless, romantic glow.
Another reason I love photographing here is the variety of backdrops all within walking distance. There’s no need for long drives or rushing between locations. That means more time for relaxed portraits, more natural moments, and far less stress on your wedding day.
It truly is one of those venues where everything flows beautifully — for both your experience and your photos.

Why You Should Work with a Film and Digital Photographer
Choosing a photographer who works with both film and digital gives you the best of both worlds. Each medium has unique qualities that capture your day in different ways, and together they tell a richer, more timeless story.
Film Photography:
Creates soft, dreamy, and romantic tones that feel timeless.
Gives images a painterly texture with delicate colours and creamy skin tones.
Adds a nostalgic, fine art feel that never goes out of style.
Digital Photography:
Great for low-light situations or fast-moving moments — nothing gets missed.
Offers flexibility for post-processing while maintaining a natural, light-filled look.
Simply put, working with a photographer who uses both film and digital means you won’t compromise on style, quality, or creativity — you get the full experience in one wedding album.

Here is a couple of tips to help you plan your wedding at Masonmill Gardens
Tips for Amazing Ceremony Photos
As a wedding photographer – I’m always looking at how light falls – When it comes to your ceremony area. If one side is shaded and the other is in full sun, drapes can help even it out. Or your photos will be the same but still so beautiful.
Timing flowers is important. Working with Anna from Petal Polka ( Perth best florist) , she ensures blooms stay fresh and calls me over ten minutes before guests arrive so I can capture the ceremony untouched — perfect for fine art photography.
Planning Your Reception Photos
Check cake placement to avoid poles or obstacles in photos. For one couple I suggested, moving the cake in a title different location. This made the shots of the cake cutting so much better with the couple having room behind the cake.
