Defining Fine Art Wedding Photography
At the start of my journey as a wedding photographer, I experimented with various styles until film photography captured my heart. Initially, I thought that a Fine Art wedding photographer’s work mainly involved artificial lighting techniques. However, I learned that Fine Art photography is an artistic expression reflecting the photographer’s vision.
Think of Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam in the Sistine Chapel, undoubtedly a piece of fine art that I once visited. Similarly, Fine Art artists create original pieces using painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography.
To me, Fine Art Photography is about stories and interesting visual means, both in print and digital media. Given the digital age we live in, preserving our memories in printed albums has never been more important to avoid our memories from becoming lost in social media or the cloud.
What does Fine Art Mean?
Traditionally, painting, sculptures, architecture, music, and poetry all are a part of fine art. However, it also includes film, photography, and video production.
Fine art is created for its beauty and significance. Therefore, within film photography, I am an artist. Being intentional with every frame, my eye goes over every detail before clicking the shutter.
What sets fine art wedding photography apart from other styles, and how does it enhance the overall wedding experience?
Fine art wedding photography could be the ideal match for those who cherish classic and timeless wedding photographs that capture bright and meaningful moments with a soft, romantic feel. If you have a preference for romantic photos rather than dark and moody ones, this style of wedding photography may appeal to you.
What sets fine art wedding photography apart is its intentional and artistic method. This style is not about capturing unrelated pictures; instead, a fine art wedding photographer creates more feeling in between each photo, and intimate moments that align with your dream wedding day. I craft an elegant story through a collection of images.
Fine Art Photography Style – Film Photos
When you explore fine art and what film can offer, it’s about vision, colours, and the editorial story.
Vision – Imagine a blank canvas from a painter; how did Michelangelo create the Sistine Chapel? He started with a blank canvas and had a vision. This is how I approach a wedding day: by incorporating your love story into my vision and creating art.
Colours – Fine art photographers who shoot film produce dreamy, timeless photos with vibrant colours, softness, tones, and textures.
Editorial Story – A good editorial requires creativity, aesthetic beauty, and unique storytelling, and film captures this most beautifully and timelessly. Film photography is dreamy, timeless and romantic.
