5 Reasons Why You Should Put Your Wedding Dress On Early

You have chosen the wedding dress of your dreams and it’s so beautiful you don’t want to get it dirty, but could this be a reason you get rushed before going to your ceremony? YES. Most brides feel the same way!  As a fine art wedding photographer based in Perth, and also servicing South West, Swan Valley and beyond, I have photographed so many weddings. But I’m here to tell you that getting into your wedding dress early will help with the flow of events and set you up for the beautiful, magical photos for your collection. In my opinion, you should have at least 1 hour after your photographer leaves for the ceremony, and this is why:

So Many Robe Photos but Not Enough Portraits

Your dress is your dream and the robe photos just tell the story of the morning. To ensure a stress-free and relaxed morning, hair and makeup should be finished at least two hours or more before the robe photo session is crucial.  While I will arrive at least 2.5 or 4 hours prior depending on why you have planned, I will take the details and then capture the getting ready photos. If your bridesmaids’ makeup and hair aren’t done before we commence with the robe photos, they might feel uneasy being in front of the camera. Also, it’s a domino effect from here with some crucial storylines not being captured. Everyone gets uncomfortable, and it shows on their faces. We want everyone to feel happy to be a part of your day and see no sad faces.

Your Bridesmaids Need To Be Ready Before You

After the robe photos, your bridesmaids need time to get ready, and so should everyone else. Your parents and children should already be ready. Just remember everyone getting ready in the same house will be sharing the same rooms.  Most photographers will give you less time, and then you will receive getting ready photos with your bridesmaids in their robes.

This is never a showcase moment, and these photos never get shared. So, if you have your bridal party ready in their beautiful dresses, they will not only feel beautiful but confident too.

Putting On Your Wedding Dress Without Being Rushed

This is when it feels rushed – your photographer hasn’t left yet for your ceremony. When the luxury transport has arrived and you hear toot toot toot toot, you know it’s time to go, but the photographer has only captured putting on the dress.

We really don’t want that to happen. You want to make sure putting on your dress is beautiful, slow, and we are capturing all the details. Your bridesmaids are helping you, the room is clean, and you are just having fun and relaxed.

This is where the candid moments are captured. You might look at the time and have 2 hours before the ceremony, and this is great. So, don’t worry if you get your wedding dress dirty; putting on your dress early helps you receive more portraits without rushing, and everyone can feel relaxed.

Capturing Bridal Portraits And Special Moments

Your wedding dress is like a dream come true, and you absolutely feel so beautiful, elegant, and full of love. You have left time to capture some special moments here.  Your bridesmaids have got you ready, and now it’s a surprise look with your family or parents or even children. These are magical moments of the expressions on their faces. Can you imagine your parents seeing you for the first time, speechless?

Then we also have time for bridal photos, photos with family, and also with your bridesmaids. Remember the toot toot toot. Well, you’re not going to run out the door rushing and look at all the extra photos you just received with me as your photographer.

Photographer To Leave Early To Your Ceremony

I like to arrive at your ceremony and leave 30 minutes early. This ensures I can find parking on the street, get ready. You have spent so much time envisioning all your details for your big day, from flowers, signs, champagne tours after your ceremony, petals for throwing.  You actually don’t see these details untouched, so this will ensure you receive photos of your ceremony and the details untouched as the guests are arriving, and I will be waiting for you to arrive. You will be smiling because your morning has been amazing!

Working A Photographer who Wants only the best story for you.

This is all about putting your wedding dress on early and having extra time for those magical, beautiful photos that a lot of brides miss out on.

So it’s important that more time is better.  If you would like to discuss what’s important to you while you’re getting ready and on your wedding day, we will discuss the hours of coverage you will need to make every detail and candid moment possible in its nature and authentic way.

Don’t have your wedding party looking uncomfortable in your photos, and for you to be unhappy because of being rushed.

If you wanted to be spontaneous, take your bridal party out early and capture moments in a different location before your ceremony. There is no rules to weddings so at the end of the day, you can do what ever you like.

Your wedding day is all about being in the moment and actually enjoying your day!
