How Much Does a Perth Wedding Photographer Cost in 2024

Wedding Photography Cost In Perth

Congratulations on your engagement and booking your venue and date! Now, you’re on the lookout for the perfect photographer who matches your style and personality. You come across some Wedding Photographers that you absolutely adore. You either see their collections displayed on their website or you fill out a contact form, only to receive an automated email with the pricing guide. Sound familiar?

While this is a common and helpful practice for understanding costs, it may not completely fulfil your needs. What if you reduce the coverage hours to fit your budget, only to later regret missing important moments? How can you determine the necessary coverage to have a stress-free wedding day?

One thing I’ve learned as a wedding photographer is that every wedding is unique and should be treated as such.

The Average Cost of Wedding Photography in Perth

Most wedding photographers specialise in digital photography, which means that hiring a reputable digital photographer can range from $2500 to $5000 or even more. These photographers often provide collections that offer different durations of 6, 8, or 10 hours, along with various packages that include items to make it appear like a fantastic deal. One example of this is unlimited photos, which may seem like an amazing offer. This reminds me of my early years as a photographer when I used to believe that a large number of photos equalled better quality. However, having an unlimited number of photos does not guarantee a diverse range of shots and compositions.

Level Of Experience and Cost Of Wedding Photographers?

When choosing a photographer for your special day, it’s important to consider your budget and the level of expertise you desire. Here are some options to help you make an informed decision:

Beginner Photographer ($1500 or less): These photographers are just starting out and are looking to gain experience. While they may offer a lower price, there may be limitations in their knowledge of posing, lighting, and camera controls. However, hiring a beginner could be a great way to support someone on their photography journey and capture some beautiful moments.

Experienced Photographer ($1500 – $3000): This category of photographers has a good understanding of their camera, and posing techniques, and are starting to find their niche. They can provide you with quality images and capture your wedding day beautifully.

Professional Photographer ($3000 – $5000): These photographers are in high demand due to their unique style and expertise. They not only have a strong understanding of their equipment and techniques, but they also excel in client experience and preparation. With their guidance, you can expect a smooth and memorable wedding day photography experience.

Luxury Photographer ($5000 and beyond): Luxury photographers are experts in the industry, providing exceptional value beyond just shooting your wedding day. They are known for their distinct style and may have been featured or published in various outlets. There are educators in the industry. In addition to capturing gorgeous images, they often offer additional materials and services to ensure a truly unforgettable experience.

Remember, the cost of hiring a photographer often reflects their level of experience and the quality of their work. It’s important to assess your own preferences and budget to find the right photographer who can meet your needs and deliver the wedding photos you’ve always dreamt of. The prices above are only a rough estimate.

Working With a Fine Art Wedding Photographer

For those couples who want timeless, romantic images for their wedding photography, they should consider hiring a Fine Art Wedding Photographer known for their unique style and exceptional image quality, which includes film photos. The investment can still be almost the same for digital, but starting collections are priced at $3000 and above for a full day coverage. The difference is that you will have a collection of intentional images that are soulful, one-of-a-kind, dreamy, beautiful, and timeless.

What Makes A Great Experience.

Every wedding is unique, and it’s important to find a photographer who understands and respects your vision for your wedding day. Here are a few things to consider when searching for the perfect photographer:

  1. Communication: Look for photographers who are open to communication and willing to have a conversation about your wedding day. Personalised communication allows you to express your specific needs, styles, and any special requests you might have.
  2. Customisation: A good photographer should be flexible and able to tailor their services to fit your needs. Whether it’s adjusting coverage hours or creating a custom package, finding a photographer who offers options and is willing to work with you can make a big difference in ensuring your wedding day is captured just as you want it.
  3. Client Experience: Seek photographers who offer a consultation before your wedding day. This allows you to have a more in-depth discussion about your wedding day, clarify any questions or concerns, and get a better sense of the photographer’s personality and approach. It’s essential to connect with your photographer on a personal level to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
  4. Previous Work: Take the time to look through their portfolio to get a feel for their style and the way they capture weddings. If their previous work resonates with you, it’s a good indication that they will be able to capture your day in a way that aligns with your vision.

Remember, finding the right photographer goes beyond just a pricing guide. It’s about finding someone who understands your style, communicates effectively, and is willing to offer assistance to help with the best photography collection for you.

Why Choose a Hybrid Wedding Photographer

When choosing a Hybrid Wedding Photographer, like myself. You will have a gorgeous collection of both digital and film photos that tell your love story. Why pay the big price tag with only digital when you can have the best of both worlds? I shoot both digital and film photos. The dreamy tones and textures from film can’t be duplicated from digital photography. It’s just not the same quality. Using film, I need to be intentional with every photo, as I only have 16 clicks on a roll of film. So no wasted photos. Also, the feeling of being in the moment is more memorable when you receive your images.
